Is there anything better on earth than gentleness?  If there were, Jesus Christ would have taught it to us.  But Jesus has given us only two lessons.  "Learn from me" he said, "for I am meek and humble of heart."

Pride is the opposite of humility, but isn't brashness (etc) which is opposite of gentleness also due to pride?

Hi Brigid. Yes, I guess so.  But I think sometimes people do brash things because of stress, anxiety, immaturity, insecurity, peer pressure, etc, rather than pride.  imho.

I forgot to stay stupidity.  I think I've done brash things that were just out of stupidity.   Grin

I know someone who brags on his humility...
I pray for humility and gentleness -- trying to overcome my Irish-German pride and brashness,  Embarrassed
I don't know how to overcome my stupidity though, except to step back and ask God to take over.
