For all our intentions. . .

Morning Prayer

O Mother, fountain of love,
make me feel the power of sorrow,
that I may grieve with you.

Grant that my heart may burn
in the love of the Lord Christ
that I may greatly please Him.

Holy Mother, grant this of yours,
that the wounds of the Crucified be well-formed
in my heart.

Grant that the punishment of your wounded Son,
so worthily suffered for me,
may be shared with me.

Let me sincerely weep with you,
bemoan the Crucified,
for as long as I live.
To stand beside the cross with you,
and for me to join you
in mourning, this I desire.

When my body dies,
grant that to my soul is given
the glory of paradise.

Eia Mater, fons amoris,
me sentire vim doloris
fac, ut tecum lugeam.

Fac ut ardeat cor meum
in amando Christum Deum
ut sibi complaceam.

Sancta mater, istud agas,
Crucifixi fige plagas
cordi meo valide.

Tui Nati vulnerati
tam dignati pro me pati
poenas mecum divide.

Fac me vere tecum flere
Crucifixo condolere,
donec ego vixero.

Iuxta crucem tecum stare
ac me tibi sociare
in planctu desidero.

Quando corpus morietur,
fac ut animae donetur
paradisi gloria.

Beautiful prayer.
Reminded me to read again Fr Faber's, Abiding Sorrow for Sin.
To carry around with us a constant sorrow for our sins, far from making us feel dejected and depressed, actually brings great peace to the soul.
St Louis de Montfort said we should offer the rosary for the intention of full knowledge of our sins, the grace of perfect contrition for love of God, and the grace to perform due penance.
He says if we persevere in asking these graces from the Blessed Virgin, she will surely obtain them for us.

This makes me think of how we may have to pray to help our feelings along so that we approach sorrow for the Lord's sake properly.
