Update:
For the past one week, the world has been marking
World Glaucoma Week that ended yesterday. Here in Nairobi, ophthalmologists, glaucoma specialists,   those suffering from the disease as well as any member of the public interested to know about glaucoma, all met at the Aga Khan University Hospital, one of the leading hospitals in Nairobi.  I was among the many people who turn up for this last day event. I learnt a thing or two about glaucoma.
What I learnt was that one can have glaucoma and lose one’s sight in the presence of normal eye pressure. Such glaucoma is called low-tension glaucoma.
There was free eye screening and I decided to take advantage of that offer. I was screened. Suffice to say that my vision was found to be, well, poor.
Eye pressure was normal, eye disc was also normal.
 Fact: I am at high risk of developing glaucoma but as yet, I do not have it, praise be to God.
 What is apparently causing the poor vision which had so scared me, is cataract, which is completely treatable; laser or the knife, my choice.
They are still, supposedly small, so I will wait until such time that when I want to read any thing you guys have posted, I have to bring my face so close to the screen that my nose touches it.
That will be the time to let someone tinker with my eyes.
So my friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, you see how true it is, God does work in mysterious ways.

I'm so happy, Odhiambo! Praise be to God!    However, if doctor advises you might want to get your cataract treated . Don't wait for it to get too bad. My mom and mom in law got their cataracts treated by laser and they were okay in a week. Only requirement is not to go out in the sun without dark glasses and not to work near a hot stove (no cooking!! Yay! ) for about a week.
