Only one day to live

Hi everyone,
I'm in a hurry to leave for work. Nice to see you back , Pebbles. I'll be back to read all the new posts soon. But I thought I'd post this new topic. My 9 year old just asked me what if I had 24 hours to live. So that's my question ' What if you had only one day to live?'
How would you spend the day? What would be your state of mind? How would you prepare?

I'm in a hurry to leave for work. Nice to see you back , Pebbles. I'll be back to read all the new posts soon. But I thought I'd post this new topic. My 9 year old just asked me what if I had 24 hours to live. So that's my question ' What if you had only one day to live?'
How would you spend the day? What would be your state of mind? How would you prepare?

What a question, a good one none the less as one must of necessity, think of these things.
If I had just 24 hours to live, I guess I would be in a panic, not being able to even think straight.
I would hope that once I have had time to digest the fact, I would ask God for the Grace to accept His will calmly and for Him to guide my every step from that point on, till the very end.
This is how I would want to go about that fateful day:
Gather my immediate family around me and make my farewell.  I would tell them to come for "me" the next day as I would be in Church  
Next, I would go to Church, make a thorough examination of conscience, as thorough as thorough can be.
I would then look for a priest so I can receive the Sacrament of Penance.  I would also tell the priest that my last hour on earth is approaching and I would love above all to die while at the Eucharistic adoration.
I would ask for the Sacraments of Anointing of the Sick and of course Holy Communion.
I would await my death prayerfully at the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel.
Come morning, rigor mortis would have settled in and Odhiambo would be found , hopefully kneeling , gazing with a very happy smile on her face, clasping her Rosary in her hand.

My thoughts would be similar to yours, Odhiambo.   Panic first of all. I'm sure I'll be in a cold sweat thinking of all the lost opportunities presented to me by Our Lord and how badly I handled them. Will my salvation be assured?  Then I would think of my family and how much they would miss me.  I have provided for their security by making a will and providing guardians. I would probably write them a long letter and tell them my feelings and tell them how to provide for themselves spiritually by devoting themselves to Our Lady and saying the Holy Rosary. Then of course, to the priest for Extreme Unction. Hopefully , I would be more at peace them and be able to surrender to the Divine Will and be prepared to meet my Saviour!! 

Dying while at Eucharistic Adoration would be the most holy death one could wish for!

And yes, I forgot to add. I will call my mother and father to have my last conversation with them and tell them how much I appreciate and love them. I wouldn't fail to post on the Saintsforum and say my final byes to my friends and ask for their prayers and to remember me even when I'm gone!

Yours would be what we Catholics consider a " good death" Patricia.
We both mention the Last Sacrament. Did you know that Vatican Council II got rid of the name "Extreme Unction"? It is now officially known as "Anointing of the Sick ", that is,  according to my little book-The Faith Explained by Leo J. Trese.
Come to think of it, would the priest be persuaded to give that Last Sacrament?
The conditions for giving it appear well stated and we, the walking, talking, no battles in the horizon, etc, would hardly be considered at risk of dying?
