Sometimes it may happen that one attends an official function that is concluded with a dinner party or some such things. Almost always, at least the ones I used to attend, the master of ceremony took it upon himself to tell jokes. Most of these so called jokes tended to be dirty jokes but people laughed and had a great time. It is a long time since I last attended such a  function but I bet it is still practised.
