Heavenly Father,
 your Son accepted our sufferings to teach us the virtue of patience in human illness.
 Hear the prayers we offer for Jake and for all our sick brothers and sisters.
 May all who suffer pain, illness or disease realize that they are chosen to be saints,
and know that they are joined to Christ in his suffering for the salvation of the world,
 who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

O Jesus, You suffered and died for us;
You understand suffering;
Teach us to understand our suffering as You do;
To bear it in union with You;
To offer it with You to atone for our sins
And to bring Your grace to souls in need.
Calm all our fears; increase our trust in You.
May we always accept Your holy will
and become more like You in trial.
If it be Your will, restore Jake to health
so that we may  honor and glorify You
