Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on the Syrian people
Sacred Heart of Jesus please hear our prayers

Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee
blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus
Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death
Amen

Our Father who art in heaven
hallowed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come ,Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven
give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us fro evil
Amen

 Pope Francis calls for peace and proclaims  7 September 2013, i.e. the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world.

Pope Francis calls for peace and proclaims  7 September 2013, i.e. the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world.

Here is part of what he said:

"All men and women of good will are bound by the task of pursuing peace. I make a forceful and urgent call to the entire Catholic Church, and also to every Christian of other confessions, as well as to followers of every religion and to those brothers and sisters who do not believe: peace is a good which overcomes every barrier, because it belongs to all of humanity!

I repeat forcefully: it is neither a culture of confrontation nor a culture of conflict which builds harmony within and between peoples, but rather a culture of encounter and a culture of dialogue; this is the only way to peace. May the plea for peace rise up and touch the heart of everyone so that they may lay down their weapons and  let themselves be led by the desire for peace.

To this end, brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative.

It is great that the Pope has done this.
I hope and pray that the whole world takes up his call and fasts and prays for peace on that day, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace!

O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
we place our trust in Thee,
Whatever may befall us, Lord,
though dark the hour may be;
In all our  woes, in all our joys,
though nought but grief we see,
O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
we place our trust in Thee!

Psalm 46
God Is with Us

    God is our shelter and strength,
      always ready to help in times of trouble.
  So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken
      and mountains fall into the ocean depths;
  even if the seas roar and rage,
      and the hills are shaken by the violence.

There is a river that brings joy to the city of God,
      to the sacred house of the Most High.

  God is in that city, and it will never be destroyed;
      at early dawn he will come to its aid.
 Nations are terrified, kingdoms are shaken;
      God thunders, and the earth dissolves.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
      the God of Jacob is our refuge.

 Come and see what the Lord has done.
      See what amazing things he has done on earth.
 He stops wars all over the world;
      he breaks bows, destroys spears,
      and sets shields on fire.

         Stop fighting, he says,
         and know that I am God,
      supreme among the nations,
      supreme over the world.

 The Lord Almighty is with us;
      the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Lord have mercy on Syria

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen!
