Oh this is beautiful, I find myself trying to say it in French, Italian.. Spanish just for the sounds of the words.

I put up the new prayer book recently on the site, and you know how I hunt down the Latin, but I do not like only just the Latin. Sometimes I like to get the words in the other language too, I was just thinking that -- and here you posted this! The angels are talking to one another no?

I was thinking, St. John, he is the greatest Spanish poet who ever lived, I should like to see his poetry in Spanish too, so I could sound it out. And in the prayer book, I will have to sometime include more parallels than just the Latin/English, when there is an original language that it would be good to hear it in.

The French is so beautiful isn't it? I pronounce it terribly. I took French and Latin in highschool, and studied Japanese with a tutor for a time. My French is terrible, it sounds like Italian, that was what I was told.

Well, I murder it too, but at least we enjoy it. I only took 3 years of French but my brother had 10 years, so he's starting to send French emails to me, to try to update my French. Luckily, even though it's been 35 years since I spoke it, it comes back fairly easy ('course he's just on the basics).

I never took any of the other languages (well, a couple years of intra-district TV Spanish that no one in the class paid any attention to, doesn't count - I can only count to 39 and say what 'table' or 'house' are).

Italian I never even heard until I watched EWTN the first time and heard the Holy Father giving the homily. Latin I never learned at all, except in the choir that I was in that sang a lot of Latin.

Anyway, I love the sound of French and of Latin the most. Surprisingly, my granddaughter, at a few months shy of 4, likes the sound of French best, too. Many DVDs have the story in Spanish or French or English, and her favorite is the French. I haven't done that with my grandson - I'll have to try that.

The French poets, all they have to do is write whatever comes into their head, because it all sounds good no matter what!

I used to listen to a few French songs, but since most opera is in Italian, that is what I hear most, or German -- But I am trying to listen to less opera these days and more sacred and classical music.

Lately I am listening to my grandfather's favorite tenor, Mario Lanza, he does a wonderful 'Ave Maria', 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and 'Danny Boy'.

What French do I have, let's see.. Some motets.. Some Patricia Kaas.. I wonder if I will keep this stuff. I can't listen to these French singing ladies for long or I will stop wanting to become a monk. So out they go! The boot!

I never thought of it but (Pavorotti is my favorite tenor) all the best tenors are Italian. Even The Priests (I love them) sing in Latin, English, Italian or German, but no French songs.

I think I've seen CDs made by French Benedictines. Would that help?

I attended a Catholic wedding and the bride was named  Sandra.   
During the mass the mother of the bride left her pew and went up to the choir loft.   
Sandra's mother sang Ave Maria beautifully.
