Todays Scripture Reading
«
on:
April 17, 2013, 09:07:50 PM »
Alleluia!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!
May the name of the Lord be blessed
both now and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to it's setting,
praised be the name of the Lord!
High above all nations is the Lord,
above the heavens is his glory.
Who is like the Lord our God,
who dwells on high,
who lowers himself to look down
upon heaven and earth?
From the dust he lifts up the lowly,
from the ash heap he raises the poor,
to set them in the company of princes,
yes, with the princes of his people.
To the childless wife he gives a home
as a joyful mother of children.
Psalm 113

Psalm 25:12-18, 21-22
Who is this that fears the Lord?
He will show him the path to choose.
His soul shall live in happiness,
and his descendants shall possess the land.
The Lord's secret is for those who fear him;
to them he reveals his covenant.
My eyes are always on the Lord,
for he rescues my feet from the snare.
Turn to me and have mercy on me,
for I am alone and poor.
Relieve the anguish of my heart,
and set me free from my distress.
See my lowliness and suffering,
and take away all my sins.
May integrity and virtue protect me,
for I have hoped in you, O Lord.
Redeem Israel, O God,
from all it's distress.

Psalm 139:1-9
O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
for his mercy endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his mercy endures forever;
Who alone has wrought marvelous works,
for his mercy endures forever;
who in wisdom made the heavens,
for his mercy endures forever;
who spread the earth on waters,
for his mercy endures forever.
It was he who made the great lights,
for his mercy endures forever;
the sun to rule in the day,
for his mercy endures forever;
the moon and the stars in the night,
for his mercy endures forever.

Psalm 92:2-7, 13-16
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your loving mercy in the morning,
and your truth in the watches of the night,
on the ten-stringed Lyre and the lute,
with the sound of song on the harp.
You have gladdened me, O Lord, by your deeds;
for the work of your hands I shout with joy.
O Lord, how great are your works!
How deep are your designs!
The senseless cannot know this,
and the fool cannot understand.
The just will flourish like the palm tree,
and grow like a Lebanon cedar.
Planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God,
still bearing fruit when they are old,
still full of sap, still green,
to proclaim that the Lord is upright.
In him, my rock, there is no wrong.

Psalm 150
Alleluia!
Praise God in his holy place;
praise him in his mighty firmament.
Praise him for his powerful deeds;
praise him for his boundless grandeur.
O praise him with sound of trumpet;
praise him with lute and harp.
Praise him with timbrel and dance;
praise him with strings and pipes.
O praise him with resounding cymbals;
praise him with clashing of cymbals.
Lest everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Alleluia!
John 10: 27-30
Jesus said: "My sheep hear my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
No one can take them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
and no one can take them out of the Fathers hand.
The Father and I are one."
Hebrews 13:20-21
May the God of peace, who brought up from the dead
the great shepherd of the sheep
by the blood of the eternal covenant,
Jesus our Lord, furnish you with all that is good,
that you may do his will.
May he carry out in you what is pleasing to him
through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever
Amen

"Praise him with timbrel and dance......" We don't (in the west) generally praise Him with dance. I think it would be good for us.

Psalm 146: 1-2, 5-10
Alleluia!
My soul, give praise to the Lord;
I will praise the Lord all my life,
sing praise to God while I live.
Blessed is he who is helped by Jacob's God,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made the heavens and the earth,
the seas and all they contain,
who preserves fidelity forever,
who does justice to those who are oppressed.
It is he who gives bread to the hungry,
the Lord who sets prisoners free,
the Lord who opens the eyes of the blind,
the Lord who raises up those who are bowed down.
It is the Lord who loves the just,
the Lord who protects the stranger
and upholds the orphan and the widow,
but thwarts the path of the wicked.
The Lord will reign forever,
the God of Sion from age to age.
Alleluia!

Haha, George, the Douay, translates it as, "Praise him with timbrel and choir: praise him with strings and organs."
So you have an out!

Does that mean that most of western society (Catholics) read the DR?
