Clarification

The Vatican has put a German diocese on notice that it disapproves of its challenge to church teaching on whether Catholics who remarry can receive Communion.
The diocese of Freiburg issued an official set of guidelines this week explaining how such divorced and remarried Catholics could receive the sacrament.
Church teaching holds that Catholics who don't have their first marriages annulled, or declared null by a church tribunal, before remarrying cannot participate fully in the church's sacraments because they are essentially committing adultery. The issue has vexed the church for decades and Pope Francis has said it is something that must be addressed.
But the Vatican said Tuesday that Freiburg's local initiative "risks causing confusion." It said the issue will be discussed at a meeting of bishops next year.

I cannot comment since I was not aware of the situation in this diocese. I did not know that a diocese has the authority to change Church teaching. That would be scary; where would it leave the universal nature of the Church?

I met a lady recently who was very bitter with the church for refusing her communion due to her divorce. I tried to reason with her to no avail. She spent every opportunity she had beating down the church and praising the muslim faith.
I hear that she has a muslim boyfriend and is very close to conversion to the muslim faith.

Unthinkable that anyone can actually leave the true Church for the Muslim faith. I guess she was just trying to give herself excuses. She is deceiving no one though, not even herself. Deep down she must know better.

That diocese does not have the authority to disobey the moral law.

I wonder how long she will praise the Muslim faith or stay with him when she realizes what the popular Muslims attitude is toward domestis violence?

If the Archdiocese of Frieburg, Germany, has adopted a new policy allowing divorced and remarried Catholics to receive Communion, it is an apparent violation of Church norms, points out canon lawyer Edward Peters.
Freiburg’s Archbishop Robert Zollitsch resigned in September, and his successor has not yet been appointed. Peters cites Canon 428 #1: “When a see is vacant, nothing is to be altered.” A change regarding the rules for receiving Communion—and particularly a change that countermands the rules of the universal Church—would surely constitute an alteration in the affairs of the archdiocese.

I hope that she somehow gets to read the book, "Not Without My Daughter"
by Betty Mahmoody and William Hoffer.
I cried for her and her little girl.

I guess some people just learn by bitter experience and not by good advice.

I went to the library this morning, they had that book there -- I looked through it. I read very quickly.
I noticed she quoted the Quran in it, in particular a blasphemous passage about Our Lord and His Mother.
I'd like to remind you two this forum is not for discussion of, or recommendation of secular books, and movies.
Please remember that.

I am told that when that movie came out, people in the Iranian community here in the United States looked up the family in Iran and asked them about the allegations in the book and the movie. The family in Iran denied all allegations of mistreatment that were portrayed in the book and the movie.
