The holy, glorious and all-laudable Apostle Thomas
Troparion (Tone 2)
You were a disciple of Christ
And a member of the divine college of Apostles.
Having been weak in faith you doubted the Resurrection of Christ.
But by feeling the wounds you believed in His all-pure passion:
Pray now to Him, O all-praised Thomas to grant us peace and great mercy.

Kontakion (Tone 4)
Thomas, the faithful servant and disciple of Christ,
Filled with divine grace, cried out from the depth of his love:
You are my Lord and my God!

Saint Thomas the Apostle, pray for us!

St Vadim pray for us
He lived in Persia with seven other monks, his disciples. King Shahpurhr II or Sapor decided to persecute the Christians and they were all arrested, then cruelly tortured. Another Christian prisoner, Prince Nersan, faced with these tortures, preferred apostasy to keep his life. He was granted his freedom on condition that Vadim disappeared. Nersan came to the prison, but trembling with emotion, he could not behead Saint Vadim with one blow. So he hit him all over the body, tearing him to pieces in excruciating pain which Saint Vadim endured with patience and seeking to convert Nersan: "Why do you have to be my executioner?"

St Zachary, husband of St Elizabeth the cousin of our Holy Mother Mary, was told by an angel that he would be the father of St John the Baptist.  An unverifiable legend reports Zachary was killed under Herod's order because he would not reveal the location of St John.

St Bernadine of Siena (1380-1444) survived a terrible plague in 1400 which nearly destroyed his voice, yet he is patron of preachers and people with respiratory problems in part because his dedication called him to preach 55 days in a row even though he was dying.

It is very curious how your short devotion sent me back to our pilgrimage to Assisi almost ten years ago, and it was a wonderful second visit.  We stayed several days in a modest but immaculate monastery-owned hotel, were drawn to walk the narrow, hilly streets almost all through each day, and to meditate or worship in more than a dozen chapels.  Many thanks.
St George, soldier, hero, martyr, prayer for us.

St Hegesippus dc 180 has been called the father of Church history recognizing his five books covering the death of Jesus to the pontificate of St Eleutherius c174-c189.
His Memorial is listed by Delaney as April 7.  It was reported that the Ecclesiastical History of Eusebius drew heavily from Hegesippus, who was a Jewish convert from Jerusalem, spent 25 years in Rome, and returned to Jerusalem in 177 near the time of its destruction.  St Hegesippus, pray for us.
It has occurred very belatedly to me that this wonderful thread may help me resolve at least some of my uncertainty about which Saint to honor.  Blessings to Shin Cyril, and all who have participated.
