Andrew and his brother Simon and James and his brother John, who
were all fishermen, were the first disciples Jesus called.
What if Jesus had called men of a different occupation?
What if the first disciples had been carpenters or farmers? What do you think?

Matthew, (aka levi) was a tax collector before Jesus called him.

Mark was Peter's interpreter when he went to Rome. Later on he founded the Church in Alexandria.

John was a nephew of the high priest. It is likely that as he got older he would have been one of the priests in the Temple. That was how he was able to get access for himself and St Peter during the trial of Christ.

It appears that Jesus deliberatly chose a variety of people to be his disciples. He chose Levi (aka Matthew) who was a tax collector (public sinner) and a zealot They were the ones who led the revolt against Rome.
