'Why do we not burn with the divine fire which He has come to enkindle on earth! We ought to be consumed therein. To love and be consumed by this sacred fire will be my constant endeavor.'

St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

I'd like to be very charitable not only towards my neighbor, but towards Jesus, always keeping in my mind all the pain He endured during His Passion for me, which truly should make my heart burn on fire with love for Him all the day long.  What do you think, Shin?

Give up something you like and donate the money you save and give it to a worthy charity.

Great idea, Poche!

Do whatever it takes to keep reminding yourself of charity and His Passion!

Yes, here it begins!  I've been beginning my day with the 15 Prayers of St. Bridget and am hoping our Lord's Passion will remain in my thoughts all day so I can be helped to love God and neighbor more throughout my day.

A LENTEN PLEDGE
My crucified Jesus, my God and Savior, help me make a good Lent, root out my sins, and live in union with Thee.  With Thy help, I pledge and resolve the following Lenten efforts:

1.  I will do penance for my sins, and make special sacrifices for Thee.

2.  I will pray more often, more attentively, more humbly.

3.  I will bend my will to Thine, by obeying Thy commandments and my superiors.

4.  I will give up certain things I like, to better strengthen my will against evil allurements.

5.  I will more strictly avoid occasions of sin.

6.  I will control and discipline my eyes, my imagination, and my curiosity.

7.  I will regard Lent as a time of war against my sins and weaknesses; a time to root out bad habits and self-love.

8.  I will also use Lent as a time to grow in virtue, in Thy Love, in peace.

9.  I will often think of Thee crucified for my sins, and try to have true contrition and purpose of amendment.

10.  I will be cheerful amidst my penances and efforts, without becoming a cross or burden to others.

According to Hungarian folk belief, those who receive the ashes on Ash Wednesday will be free from headaches for quite a while.

Spend at least thirty minutes in Eucharistic adoration at least one time during each week of Lent.

Our parish men's club has begun review of Matthew Kelly's book Holy Moments, of which Kelly offers six free copies through his website HolyMomentsBook.  A Holy Moment is each decision we make to follow God's Will by doing good for others.  Please pray for us.

Some people in Spain will practice abstinence from eating meat and meat products every Friday until Holy Week.
