Leopold III was considered a candidate in the election of the Kaiser of the Holy Roman Empire in 1125, but declined this honor.

Leopold III's second wife was Agnes, the widowed sister of Emperor Henry V who he had supported against her father Henry IV.

Delaney reported that Leopold was married to the daughter of Emperor Henry IV, by whom he had 18 children.  He also founded the monasteries of Heiligenkreuz and and Mariazell.

Eighteen children for one royal couple is an extremely large number of children.

Please forgive this comment: I resisted repeating this sentence from Delaney's report when I first wrote the prior post, even though it gave me a chuckle.  In the last sentence, Delaney says Leopold was surnamed "The Good" by his people.  I'll try not to think further on the matter.  St Leopold, please pray for us.

According to Delaney, St Leopold had served 40 years as margrave, from age 23 until his death in 1136.
