                {B} A compact rose with pink blossoms and a mild fragrance, class centifolia.
                {C} The flower for the feast of St. Caecilius, Confessor, the priest and saint who converted St. Cyprian of Carthage. St. Cyprian took the name Caecilius in his honor. The sweet fragrance of the saints brings to mind the holiness given to them of God.

They were purple and white. I have heard the deer like to eat phlox.

I did not know that deer eat phlox. My grandmother has tall summer garden phlox.   
These have never been eaten by deer.   
Shin, Might you be referring to creeping phlox that is a flowering spring ground cover?
