The banquet organized in his honor

John of Avila was ordained a priest in 1525.     
On the day of his first Mass, he refused the banquet       
organized in his native village. He shared his     
meal with a dozen poor people.       
John launched his apostolate in Seville.     
He preached in hospitals, taught children the catechism     
in schools, and taught Christian doctrine in the plazas.     
     
I like St. John's style in his religious career.     
He did not wait for the people.     
For example, he went to the plazas, where he taught Christian doctrine.

At the age of fourteen in 1513, John was sent to the University of Salamanca to study law.   
In 1517 he withdrew. He did not receive a degree.
