Ordained to the priesthood in 1785 with a doctorate in theology, William Joseph Chaminade
returned to the minor seminary of Saint Charles in Mussidan, France, run by his brothers Jean-Baptiste and Louis.
There, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, specially honored under the title of the Immaculate Conception,
                 held central importance.

I like the fact that devotion to Mary was important.
However, the devotion should not stay in the past.
Devotion to Mary now in the present and in the future is especially important.
                 What do you think?

I was actually surprised at the lukewarm responses from  I received when I was looking for some kindred spirits in my parish with respect to the devotional readings & exercises prescribed by St. DeMontfort. I did get the sense that I was perceived as excited about some dusty old fashioned devotion to the no- brainer part of being Catholic.
But part of the  instructional readings actually allow for dryness in prayer and the internal/external practices. Don't worry,Keep going, says he...
It is a mysterious and very interesting experience. I feel blessed to have been and continue to be led to Christ thru Mother Mary.
I have even had some interesting dreams lately and when Jesus  sends me dreams  relevant to what I am going thru in my life it really gets my attention.
To me, it ( some sort of Marian devotion) is and She ( our blessed mother) is  the ultimate protective shield. If she carried Christ around on her hip like any good mother, wouldn't she be willing to carry to God, a helpless child like me?
I would like to know what some lifelong Catholics think, please chime in. I am a recent convert.

It's good to hear of your enthusiasm, it is too bad it didn't catch light in those you spoke to!

Do pray for them!

The saints are priceless!

On a 14th century  manuscript of St. Mark the Ascetic's for example, were recorded the words: "Sell everything and buy Mark!"

The Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of "Mother of God", to whose
protection the faithful approach in all their dangers and needs.

In the church here there is a magnificent icon of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
Twelve stars are in her halo.

It is most important in the present and future.  St. Louis de Montfort says that we even need devotion to Mary in order to be saved.  She is our life, our sweetness and our hope.  She truly is!  I've read Marian books written by Fr. Emile Neubert and he mentions Fr. Charimade's teachings in them, as he was very influenced by him.  God bless you!

The Little Office should be recited too besides the Rosary. Smiley

The Angelus, a beautiful prayer, is used three times daily: at dawn, mid-day, and at dusk.

In Erie, Pennsylvania, at St. Luke Catholic Church, there is a Blessed Mother Garden.
There is a tall statue of the Virgin Mary. Splendid red geraniums are in the garden.

I am particularly fond of our Lady as depicted in the image to the left (Our Lady of Quito).  We should each have a special devotion to our Lady of Sorrows, sharing in her sorrows and mourning with her over all the offenses committed against God and over all the souls that are being lost.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us!

The Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Marian litany originally approved in 1587 by Pope Sixtus V.
It is also known as the Litany of Loreto, for its first-known place of origin, the Shrine of
Our Lady of Loreto (Italy), where its usage was recorded as early as 1558.
The litany contains many of the titles used for the Virgin Mary.

The Magnificat is a canticle. It is also known as the Song of Mary.
