If an elderly woman put more time into adorning her soul and preparing it for death rather than adorning her body and face to please others, she'd be much happier in the end--and throughout her life.

In the clutches of that vice.. when it's run its course to the end.. its like folks who can't give up stealing, even though they have everything in the world.. It reminds me of a monk who used to steal bread, one of the desert fathers stories.. he was addicted to the stealing, though he wasn't hungry at all, and it did him no good at all, he had to keep at it..
I keep telling some relations of mine.. you don't need the hair dye, you look better.. it's more respectable.. you don't need the makeup, you look better without it..

A couple of females I know try to get me to dye my hair, but I refuse, and always will refuse such suggestions. I much prefer to look natural and the way I truly am, thanks be to God!

Greed is a very powerful vice and so is pride with its vanity. Some women might not be all that vain, but if they have no real appreciation for simplicity and natural God-given beauty they can turn to make-up, jewelry, etc. and lose themselves in some great façade.

These poor people simply do not know what to do with themselves. Sigh.

A lot of it for some women can have to do with "fitting in" the culture or "keeping up appearances" or with some other worldly excuse that makes them blend in with the artificialness found in society.

And just think of the money we're saving by not wearing the stuff!
I have always had manual labor jobs outside, in a hot restaurant kitchen or I had a job close by
Where I could ride my bike and so I gave up trying to wear it years ago.
When we moved out west and I saw the rancher's wives who's only make up was a high altitude suntan
I was so happy to see other women who went about with bare faces.

I've removed a few posts taking the thread off subject. Let's continue.
