                In the hymn Moved by the Gospel, Let Us Move, part of a verse is:   
                 Great artist, form our common life According to your will       
       
                 I have not heard the Lord God referred to as the Great Artist before. I think it is a marvelous title.   
                   God is skillful as an artist. Look at the beauty of his creation.

In Song of Solomon, the beauty of the bride is compared to "the work of the hands of an artist". (7:1)     
God is the creator; he is the artist whose hands create beauty.
