The Sundays of this time of year are considered to be Sundays of Easter,
and are called, after Easter Sunday itself, the Second, Third, Fourth,
Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Sundays of Easter.

The season of Easter extends to Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descends upon the aspostles
and empowers them to spread the faith.

The readings for Tuesday in the Octave of Easter include Mary Magdalene's encounter with the risen Jesus in the Gospel of John.

In ancient times the neophytes would wear their baptismal alb during the whole ensuing week of the Easter Octave.
They were guests of honor in the parish.

In the Gospel According to Mark, the young man clothed in a white robe tells the women,
"Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised."

Urbi et Orbi (to the city [of Rome] and to the world) denotes a papal address and apostolic blessing.
Who is the first Pope to give the Urbi et Orbi at Easter?

Please forgive me if this comment seems a bit excessive, but I'm feeling it is a quite amazing coincidence that you're continuing these posts in celebration of the Easter Season, and I'm reading them with great joy because you are helping to extend the Easter Season, which so much of the world seems to quickly walk away from, just as many people walk quickly away from the Christmas season.  For many years I have struggled to actively read my Divine Office through both Advent and Lent, usually stopping soon after both holidays, but your posts have kept me reading fairly regularly until now, and I am very grateful to you.  I wish there was much more celebration in the Church of the events of these days, Jesus' appearances at Emmaus, the cenacle, Mt Tabor, Mt Olivet, the Sea of Galilee, and of course Pentecost.

Good Shepherd Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Easter.
It is a day to focus on Jesus' role as shepherd of souls.
The Gospel reading for this day is taken from the tenth chapter of John's Gospel.

The Catholic Church made it a requirement for all Catholics to receive Communion at
least once per year, during the Easter Season.

On the Sixth Sunday of Easter, Jesus speaks of asking the Father to send another Advocate to be with us always.
