The tradition of three different Masses for Christmas dates back at least to the 6th century.
The three Christmas Masses (midnight, dawn, and during the day) originated in Rome around the year 330.

There does not have to be a Midnight Mass. There is no mandated Mass at midnight.

During the period of the twelfth to the sixteenth centuries all the arts and crafts of the Christian nations
