Rudolph, who died in 1066, was a Benedictine bishop and disciple of Saint Peter Damian.
He spent years under the spiritual care and monastic leadership of Saint Peter Damian.
In 1061 he was named bishop of Gubbio, Italy.

Saint Rudolph was described as "a miracle of unselfishness".

Saint Rudolph of Gubbio seems to have been Prior of the Eremo di Fonte Avellana in 1057.
The feast of Saint Rudolph is celebrated on October 17.

While in the monastery, Rudolph studied philosophy and theology and excelled in Latin.

Saint Rudolph of Gubbio was also known as Rodolph.
In 1054 he gave his castle at Campo Rigo to Saint Peter Damian.

His elevation to bishop did not change Rudolph's piety.
He continued to live humbly and austerely.
He would only eat the food that was given to servants.

Rudolph avoided meat, eggs, and cheese. He slept on a wooden board without blankets.
