Maximus was a bishop and theological writer. He was born probably in Rhaetia
                              approximately 380.
He spoke of the importance of prayer. He stressed the value of praising God
each day, making sure to take some time to pray in the morning and the
evening, and not neglecting to thank God before and after each meal.

When Maximus was at the Synod of Rome in 465, the subscription of Maximus follows immediately
after the Pope's, showing he was the oldest of forty-eight bishops present.

St. Maximus of Turin's discourses were published by order of Pope Pius VI at the Propaganda in 1784.

In 451 Maximus was at the synod of Milan. Among nineteen subscribers Maximus was the eighth.
Since the order was determined by age, Maximus at that time was about seventy years old.

During his tenure as bishop, Maximus chided the landowners for hiding their wealth away rather than
using it to relieve the suffering of those in need.
