                                    Saint Frederick was born in 780 in Friesland.     
                                     He was the grandson of King Radbon of the Frisians.     
                                       He was educated by the clergy of the church of Utrecht.   
                                         He became a priest.

After the demise of Ricfried in 815/816, Frederick was chosen as Bishop of Utrecht.

Frederick was praised for his knowledge and understanding during the synod of Mainz in 829.
