From the Divine Office. . .

Matins. . .

Invitatory

Ant. Let us keep the Feast of the Rose - garden of the Blessed Virgin Mary; * let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

Come let us praise the Lord with joy: let us joyfully sing to God our saviour. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; and make a joyful noise to him with psalms.

Ant. Let us keep the Feast of the Rose - garden of the Blessed Virgin Mary; * let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. For in his hand are all the ends of the earth: and the heights of the mountains are his.

Ant. let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

For the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. (genuflect) Come let us adore and fall down: and weep before the Lord that made us: For he is the Lord our God: and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.

Ant. Let us keep the Feast of the Rose - garden of the Blessed Virgin Mary; * let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

Today if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts: As in the provocation, according to the day of temptation in the wilderness: where your fathers tempted me, they proved me, and saw my works.

Ant. let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

Forty years long was I offended with that generation, and I said: These always err in heart. And these men have not known my ways: so I swore in my wrath that they shall not enter into my rest.

Ant. Let us keep the Feast of the Rose - garden of the Blessed Virgin Mary; * let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

Glory be. . .

Ant. let us worship Christ her Son, and her Lord and ours.

Invitatorium

Ant. Solemnitatem Rosarii Virginis Mariae celebremus: * Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Venite, exsultemus Domino, jubilemus Deo, salutari nostro: praeoccupemus faciem ejus in confessione, et in psalmis jubilemus ei.

Ant. Solemnitatem Rosarii Virginis Mariae celebremus: * Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Quoniam Deus magnus Dominus, et Rex magnus super omnes deos, quoniam non repellet Dominus plebem suam: quia in manu ejus sunt omnes fines terrae, et altitudines montium ipse conspicit.

Ant. Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Ant. Solemnitatem Rosarii Virginis Mariae celebremus: * Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Hodie, si vocem ejus audieritis, nolite obdurare corda vestra, sicut in exacerbatione secundum diem tentationis in deserto: ubi tentaverunt me patres vestri, probaverunt et viderunt opera mea.

Ant. Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Quadraginta annis proximus fui generationi huic, et dixi; Semper hi errant corde, ipsi vero non cognoverunt vias meas: quibus juravi in ira mea; Si introibunt in requiem meam.

Ant. Solemnitatem Rosarii Virginis Mariae celebremus: * Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Gloria. . .

Ant. Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Ant. Solemnitatem Rosarii Virginis Mariae celebremus: * Christum ejus Filium adoremus Dominum.

Hymn {from the Proper of Saints}

The Mount of Olives witnesseth
The awful agony of God:
His soul is sorrowful to death,
His sweat of blood bedews the sod.

And now the traitor's work is done:
The clamorous crowds around him surge;
Bound to pillar, God the Son
Quivers beneath the blood-red scourge.

Lo! clad in purple soiled and worn,
Meekly the Saviour waiteth now
While wretches plait the cruel thorn
To crown with shame his royal brow.

Sweating and sighing, faint with loss
Of what hath flowed from life's red fount,
He bears the exceeding heavy cross
Up to the verge of Calvary's mount.

Nailed to the wood of ancient curse,
Between two thieves the sinless one
Still praying for his murderers,
Breathes forth his soul, and all is done!

Glory to thee, and honour meet,
Jesu, of Maiden-Mother born,
And Father and the Paraclete,
Through endless ages of the morn!
Amen.

Hymnus

In monte olivis consito
Redemptor orans, procidit,
Moeret, pavescit, deficit,
Sudore manans sanguinis.

A proditore traditus
Raptatur in poenas Deus,
Durisque vinctus nexibus
Flagris cruentis caeditur.

Intexta acutis sentibus,
Corona contumeliae,
Squallenti amictum purpura,
Regem coronat gloriae.

Molis crucem ter arduae,
Sudans, anhelans concidens,
Ad montis usque verticem
Gestare vi compellitur.

Confixus atro stipite
Inter scelestos innocens,
Orando pro tortoribus,
Exsanguis efflat spiritum.

Jesu, tibi sit gloria,
Qui natus es de Virgine,
Cum Patre et almo Spiritu
In sempiterna saecula.
Amen.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary was formerly known as Our Lady of Victory and Feast of the Holy Rosary.

I'm curious, even though I've heard what happened to the cat, why I can find so few references to the Divine Office in our Forums, and I wonder if others have as many questions and difficulties as I do when I try to pray the Office.
Is there a good reference for frequently asked questions anywhere?
If I limited myself to questions about the difference between this post and my edition of the Office might you respond?  For example, why are there so many antiphons here?  Did these come from a particular and perhaps unique edition?
I'd be very grateful for encouragement as I struggle to pray at least some portion of the Office each day, but proceed only slowly with much difficulty.
My edition states 10/7 was established as a Feast (now Memorial) by Pope St Pius V on an anniversary of the Christian victory at Lepanto.
