One of the main ways we can come to know God's revelation is through Sacred Scripture.

Texts such as the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and the letters of Saint Paul were recognized
by the early Church as not just being any ordinary texts but writings inspired by God himself.

From his youth Saint Mark the Ascetic's fondest pursuit was the reading of Holy Scripture.

It was the Catholic Church who in the year 397 held the Council of Carthage that determined
which books were deemed to be true and would make up Sacred Scripture.

Finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' Matthew 21:37

And last of all he sent to them his son, saying: They will reverence my son. Matthew 21:37

'Novissime autem misit ad eos filium suum, dicens : Verebuntur filium meum.'
- Matthew 21:37, Vulgate
The word 'verebuntur' is the grammaticaly adjusted word for which the root is 'vereor' a word that 'revereor' is derived from. From these two words if we think a moment of what the English words might be that were derived from the Latin, we can think of venerate and revere or reverence. And in fact the Latin is where we get the English from, according to the Latin and English dictionaries I briefly consulted.

Writing for his countrymen of Palestine, St. Matthew composed his Gospel in his native Aramaic.

God's love was revealed among us in this way:
God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 1 John 4: 9
Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent
his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him. 1 John 4: 9

Do you not know
or have you not heard?
The Lord is the eternal God,
creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint nor grow weary,
and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny. Isaiah 40:28
Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
Knowest thou not, or has thou not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth:
he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out his wisdom. Isaiah 40:28

Psalm 116:5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful!
Brenton Septuagint Translation
The Lord is merciful and righteous; yea, our God has pity.
Douay-Rheims Bible
The Lord is merciful and just, and our God sheweth mercy.
Revelation 5:11-14 Douay-Rheims Bible
11And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the living creatures, and the ancients; and the number of them was thousands of thousands,
12Saying with a loud voice: The Lamb that was slain is worthy to receive power, and divinity, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and benediction.
13And every creature, which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them: I heard all saying:
To him that sitteth on the throne, and to the Lamb, benediction, and honour, and glory, and power, for ever and ever.
14And the four living creatures said: Amen. And the four and twenty ancients fell down on their faces, and adored him that liveth for ever and ever.

Enter the temple gates with praise,
its courts with thanksgiving.

You rugged mountains, why look with envy at the mountain where God has chosen to dwell,
where the Lord resides forever.
