St. Wolfgang was a bishop and a reformer. He was born in Swabia, Germany.
He studied at Reichenau under the Benedictines and at Wurzburg before serving as a teacher at the cathedral school of Trier.

Wolfgang followed Henry of Babenberg to Wurzburg in order to attend the lectures of Stephen of Novara at the cathedral school.
