Quote
.... Do you not know that a little leaven ferments the whole lump? Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new dough, as you really are without leaven. For Christ, our passover, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep festival, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

I tell you, it was great to find out about how you kept a bit of the old dough to make a new batch and how well that worked when I got into the whole bread making business for awhile.

You could have dough in the family for generations..

I was terrible at it too. The yeast never quite worked out, too yeasty, the breads would explode and collapse..

The only thing I'm good at is beer bread.  Shocked

silly! Grin
We're not supposed to use old yeast tho'. Maybe that's why it would explode and collapse. That's too much yeast. We're supposed to use just a little leaven. Just think of too much yeast causing our spiritual life to explode and collapse.

(I like wine. Is there a wine bread?)

I shall! I'm trying it tonight with a Merlot! It'll either be good, indifferent, or a complete disaster!  Shocked

If it doesn't work out you could try it with a Chablis or Chardonnay (has more sugar content). But can't use old leaven! Grin

Don't worry! My bread doesn't turn out good enough to keep any!

I've finished it, and it's cooling off. I took a small piece and I'm not sure yet, I'll wait until it cools and try it again. It may be just average so far, and I should've gone with a white wine and tried to make a cheesy sharp bread instead.

Wait and see!

Yes no old leaven! Smiley The new leaven! For new people!
