St Katharine and her nuns founded 90 mission centers and many schools for minorities.  Today is her feast day, may she pray for us.

It was informative to learn that Katharine's stepmother was Emma Bouvier. She was an aunt of John Vernou Bouvier Jr.

Mother Katharine, ten novices and three postulants temporarily used the Drexel summer home until the Mother house

St Katharine founded the first US university for black students, Xavier University in New Orleans.  I pray she will pray for us to better understand whether the modern increase in voluntary segregation is beneficial or harmful. and should be supported or opposed by law.

Father Joseph O'Connor, a Philadelphia priest provided Katharine with wonderful spiritual direction.
