How come St. Dymphna was chosen as the patron Saint of epilepsy. I understand why she would be the patron Saint of mental disease, but why epilepsy? Did she or her father have it?

One tradition states that once settled in Geel, Dymphna built a hospice for the poor and the sick of the region.

John Delaney reports that Dymphna, her confessor St Gerebernus and two companions were martyred c 650, and many miracles were at her tomb of epileptics, the insane, and those possessed.  Her feast is 5/15, St Dympha pray for us.
