Born in Nablus (ancient Shechem), Palestine, Justin came from a pagan family.
At the age of thirty-three, after years of studying the various systems of philosophy, he became converted to Christianity.

Delaney's Dictionary says Justin was the first Christian apologist to have written at length on Christianity.  Two most important works still exist, Apologies, addressed to
Emperor Antonius, and Dialogues with Trypho, a debate about merits of Christianity.  He was tried with six companions, scourged, and beheaded.

Justin tried first the school of a Stoic philosopher. The philosopher was unable to explain God's being to him.

Justin spent his youth in reading the poets, orators, and historians.
