They remind me of Him in The Passion. In fact, the second one makes me think of Mel Gibson's comment that he knew he was responsible for some of the pounds of the hammer for the nails in our Lord's hands. Where did you get them?

Yes, these are very beautiful. I must admit I was inclined not to look because their are some grotesque ones out there, which in my opinion are not conducive to meditation because they are so grotesque..... but these are beautiful. Thank you.

Oh, I forget let me think.. one from the New Liturgical Movement blog I believe, the other just turned up in a search..
They remind me of the images in the booklet 'The 15 Prayers of St. Bridget' which I love so much.

"O Jesus! True liberty of angels, paradise of delights, remember the horror and sadness which Thou didst endure when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, and by thousands of insults, spits, blows, lacerations and other unheard-of cruelties, tormented Thee at will. In consideration of these torments and insulting words, I beseech Thee, O my Savior, to deliver me from all my enemies, visible and invisible, and to bring me, under Thy protection, to the perfection of eternal salvation. Amen"

I recently learned that Jesus' crown of thorns is not like what is usually depicted in pictures. You know, like the laurel leaves Olympians get. Imagine the crown of thorns like a cap. It didn't just pierced Jesus' temples and the back of the head, but also the top of his head! An expert weaver tried to weave what the crown of thorns would have been really like...and it looked really nasty.
I forgot the name of the artist...but there was an artist who depicted the crown of thorns in such a way...because he disagreed with how it was usually depicted in paintings.
