O you, who struggle in this stormy sea, do not turn your eyes from this star. If you cry to her, you will not give up hope; if you think of her, you will not go astray.

"Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother."

When I was at my mother's place I was struck about how dedicated my family was about saying the Rosary together. As soon as my brother came back from work around 5 , he would rest for half hour and then promptly at 5:30 we would begin the family Rosary beginning with Psalm 91 and ending with bible reading, Litany to Our Lady. My children were asked to lead the decades and also read the Bible aloud. If a family member was missing they would nevertheless keep the 5:30 deadline, in order to ensure that the Rosary was said no matter what. I'm trying to keep this evening tradition alive after coming back to the States.

“You must know that when you ‘hail’ Mary, she immediately greets you! Don’t think that she is one of those rude women of whom there are so many—on the contrary, she is utterly courteous and pleasant. If you greet her, she will answer you right away and converse with you!”

"The Rosary is a Gospel prayer.
The orderly and gradual unfolding of the Rosary, reflects the very way in which the Word of God, mercifully entering into human affairs, brought about the Redemption"

'Even if you are on the brink of damnation, even if you have one foot in hell, even if you have sold your soul to the devil as sorcerers do who practice black magic, and even if you are a heretic as obstinate as a devil, sooner or later you will be converted and will amend your life and will save your soul, if—and mark well what I say—if you say the Holy Rosary devoutly every day until death for the purpose of knowing the truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for your sins.'
Saint Louis de Montfort
I think perhaps significant to this and the previous is, 'devoutly' and 'for the purpose of knowing the truth'.

Well, if it is not devout and from the heart then it ceases to be "prayer", it is but mere "babble"!

On a similar note, Saint Teresa of Avila tells us:
"Vocal prayer . . . must be accompanied by reflection. A prayer in which a person is not aware of Whom he is speaking to, what he is asking, who it is who is asking and of Whom, I don't call prayer-----however much the lips may move."

“‘Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee!’
No creature has ever said anything that was more pleasing to me,
nor will anyone ever be able to find or say to me anything that pleases me more.”

I tell my children not to say their Hail Marys in a rush or in a bored manner otherwise Mother Mary will be presented with wilted roses instead of fresh ones!!
