'When a man falls into any bodily infirmity, he must lie and think, and say, "God has sent me this sickness, because He wishes something of me; I must therefore make up my mind to change my life and become better."'

I think this is a key towards accepting illnesses in peace and offering them up properly, very helpful in preventing grumpiness.  Cheesy

Yes, its very easy to get grumpy. Especially when I have a bad hayfever attack, I'm sneezing , have a runny nose and can't breathe  and the children don't stop talking to me and I just want to be left alone. I do get grumpy Sad  How would a Saint have behaved in the same situation? So much differently.

Truly it's impressive to see someone serene in the midst of an illness and still trying to do her duty to the extent she's able!

It's definitely saintly! Like watching the Blessed Virgin!

Our Lord on the Cross, in Agony and yet concerned about His enemies' forgiveness and His Mother's future and our salvation...... speachless   Mindboggling charity!

And one needs to change their life and get better, without being stoical, rigid or Jansenist/Calvenist. A hard thing to do.!
