Using laser technology, they found the first known icons of the apostles Peter and Paul in a catacomb under a modern office building in Rome!
Vatican unveiled the paintings Tuesday, which were discovered along with the earliest known images of the apostles John and Andrew.
The images date from the second half of the fourth century (that's 350 AD).  The icons were discovered on the ceiling of a tomb of an aristocratic Roman woman at the Santa Tecla catacomb near where the remains of Paul are said to be buried.  The Santa Tecla catacombs have some of the earliest evidence of devotion to the apostles says the Vatican.  Archaeologists said that the icon of Paul was not isolated but was part of a square ceiling painting that included apostles Peter, John, and Andrew..... surrounding an image of Christ as the Good Shepherd!  The superintendent of archaeology for the catacombs said they were "absolutely the first representations of the apostles."

350 A.D.   Wow....... that's all I can say.

Oh, I have nothing special planned. Just a quiet day. My mother will probably bake me a cake and we'll have dinner together. I just moved so there aren't people to get together with down here for a party, and I like it quiet anyway.

I hope to get some extra time in before the monstrance, say some extra prayers. Smiley

And have some fun with you all here!! Cheesy
