I'd be interested too, Shin.  When I think of a good devotion never to abandon, the Holy Rosary comes to mind. Smiley

'It is well to choose some one good devotion, and to stick to it, and never to abandon it.'
St. Philip Neri

For about 10 yrs, I have spent time with the readings of the day (in scripture) and at times written my thoughts about them in my journal and many times just sat quietly with no thought at all.  Something about the Bible on my lap...........   I have noticed that there is a pattern to spiritual growth over the years.  Various things seem to be addressed at different times in life, then the letting go of different things, usually one at a time.  Anyway, there’s a pattern over time.

I think if one leapt from one prayer form to another like “shopping” this wouldn’t occur.  Now, over 45 yrs there have been different prayer forms but by in large they only change after major changes elsewhere.

That’s my thoughts Shin.  Would love to hear yours.

Bailey2, I've noticed that through my life yes, certain devotions I have stuck with and then let go and picked up another after long periods of time. A similar pattern. Smiley

I was thinking that we could all share our favorite one line or short prayers, that we like to say throughout the day. And if we do not have some, to pick some up. And so wind up with us saying similar prayers together by picking up some favorite one liner(s) together.  Cheesy

For examine, I always like to say:

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. (the Green Scapular Prayer)

and

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. (the Miraculous Medal Prayer)  Cheesy

"thank you"

whenever I see a pretty sunset, have a good session with a client (also a prayer for them too), etc
that's it!  Smiley

Gratitude for the gifts of God is the key to happiness!

Saying thank you for God's gifts is so important. Cheesy Remember the ten lepers?

This is a short one line prayer I like to say when I'm in the midst of work especially during class or housework  ' O my beloved, who art also my God, make my heart a flame of pure love for Thee.'  Josepha asked Mother Mary to tell her of an ejaculatory prayer that she could repeat over and over again while at work and Our Lady said ," Say these words which He will love."

I say the Golden Arrow prayer every now and then during the day. Three Hail Marys morning and night. Prayer to release 1000 souls in Purgatory, I say during the day whenever I remember. I like to pray different Litanies.  As Shin said, my pattern keeps changing. Different devotions at different periods.

Yes. I say all the 3 Aves and the Golden arrow too, and the one from Josepha, which I love, I will now make my own.  Cheesy

'O my beloved, who art also my God, make my heart a flame of pure love for Thee.'

I need to memorize the Golden Arrow prayer as I read it out from the Pieta prayerbook or from online, and sometimes say part of it in my mind, but I haven't memorized it totally. Time to drill for the benefits thereof!

I'd like to expand my devotions from the past ones I let slip from being regular, to include them again as regular devotions too. But we'll see. Seasons for all things!

During the day I say a refrain from the Little Office of the Immaculate Conception.
O Come my lips and wide proclaim
the Blessed Virgins spotless fame.
O Lady make haste to befriend me
From the hands of the enemy mightily defend me.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace Amen

I like to say the Ave Maria in latin too and when under pressure at work I say, All for Thee O Sacred Heart of Jesus, all for Thee.  crucifix

I like these especially too Martin!

The under pressure quote sounds like a real relief to say!

As a convert, I've not heard a few of those. It was nice to hear them. I say the "Thank You, Thank You" after Communion, I say the Rosary (only 5 decades), I read the Little Office (1962 version) and often say it in latin, and of course the Morning Offering to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary along with the daily renewal of my Marian Consecration (Kolbe). Oh, like I said on another thread I wear the Miraculous Medal sewn onto my Brown Scapular.

As a confirmed reader, I read Scripture and a number of spiritual books and that covers it now. I used to say continuously the Jesus Prayer, but I don't seem to be able to really do it for more than 5 minutes. Embarrassed

I found this wonderful discussion when I searched for devotions for the Immaculate Conception Feast. (see post near end).  It is a great reminder and motivator to seek out and express Devotions on a regular (daily +) basis.  It also sends me off with questions 1- I have Little Office of of the Blessed Virgin Mary, am wondering if there is a separate office for Immaculate Conception and if so what is recommended process for using it? 2- Pope Pius IX's contribution to the feast, its history and origin, and the dogma all seem to be described quite differently by different writers.  For the moment I'll try to focus on Immaculate Conception Devotion.
