'I thank God for having preserved me in the integrity of faith in the midst of an age that has brought forth so many heresies and scandalous opinions, and for the grace of never having held any opinion contrary to that of the Church. By a special protection of God, notwithstanding the many dangerous occasions wherein I might have been turned from the right path, I have always been on the side of truth.'

'To establish ourselves in a virtue it is necessary to form good and practical resolutions to perform certain and determined acts of that virtue, and we must, moreover, be faithful in executing them.'

'Our perfection consists in uniting our will so intimately with God's will, that we will only desire what He wills. He who conforms most perfectly to the will of God will be the most perfect Christian.'

'Read good and useful books, and abstain from reading those that only gratify curiosity.'

'Among the different means that we have of pleasing God in all that we do, one of the most efficacious is to perform each of our actions as though it were to be the last of our life.'

'Afflictions are the most certain proofs that God can give us of His love for us.'

'In proportion as the love of God increases in our soul, so does also the love of suffering.'

St. Vincent de Paul

'She was full of faith, and yet all her life long she had been tormented by thoughts against it. Nor did she once relax in the fidelity God asked of her. And so I regard her as one of the holiest souls I have ever met on this earth.'

St. Vincent de Paul, of St. Jeanne Frances de Chantal

One act or resignation to the Divine Will, when it ordains what is repugnant to us, is worth more than a hundred thousand successes according to our own will and pleasure.
-St Vincent de Paul.

Afternoon Martin! What time is it over there on the Emerald Isle?

I truly am beginning to grasp more how 'purity of intention' 'in this present moment' and 'to the Divine Will' go together so well. And how wonderful it is that in each moment the opportunity is there -- to dedicate it completely to God's will, to act only with a clear conscience, to do whatever is one's duty with one's best intention for the sake of God.

It's 7:30 in the evening here Shin.
Was looking at the work you done on the saints books. Still speachless  silent

How much better to be resigned to the will of God than doing good works of our own accord. Even better to it happily without grumbling..
This I so much want to be able to do as a thank you to the Lord.
At present the spirit's willing but the fleash is weak but I must not despair and always keep this goal in view.
Nothing else seems worthy enough to offer to the Lord than this.
Those words are haunting me, "What have I not done that I could have done for you,"

You too, eh?

'Gratitude is the secret to happiness'.

If I do something for a short time, or an hour, and think, God would be happy with what was done, and I did it with best intent, and focus to do it purely for his sake..

I feel gratitude for having something, some little treasure that I could look back on in Heaven and be pleased with because it was unspoiled by poor intent, or goal.

And then to try to make it a habit.. Well as long as God's grace allows..

Your right Shin.. Rome wasn't built in a day as the saying goes.
Step by step, little by little..
I think everyone here has found this to be the way forward.  Cheesy

Yes.. I've noticed that with restraint in regards to food.. starting off with smaller restraint than I'd like, to start with, helps, for example..

Biting off less than one can chew, more than one can chew, unless one bites off a little less than one can chew? What am I saying?
