Axing the Smilies
«
on:
September 29, 2010, 05:25:57 PM »
We were discussing the smilies recently in the moderators' sanctum. .
And possibilities about adding to them, though the window that pops up is rather crowded and what to do about that, various solutions. . .
Martin suggested that we kill off some of the smilies that are rarely used.
Like
, knock her off..
Axe..
and so forth..
Some of us were surprised at Martin's suggestion..
I thought it was important enough to go to consult the entire family..
I thought perhaps I would put it up for a vote..
But I am not sure what type of vote to take.. perhaps, say, for a week, every smilie that is underused or not used more than once, or is the least used gets the axe..
Or just have some posts here were people post their least favorite smilies to be knocked off, or alternatively their favorite smilies..
And then when we're done we have a going away ceremony for the chosen ones.
And that way we could make room for more smilies.
What does everyone think of Martin's idea?
Martin I'll let you speak for yourself here..
Excuse moi..
"These smily's are becoming a bit like the pigs in Animal Farm running the whole show."

I like the idea of a going away party.
You know the ones I would like - although when I started on this forum we didn't have any "more" and I did fine.

I think Martin's suggestion to get rid of that pop eye one is because there already is one on the yellow row above these post boxes.
And the fainting guy really doesn't capture sleep too well....... I'd love to see a sleep smiley.
Actually, I'm not too fond of that gun one or the head banging. I used to use them a lot but I notice no one else really is and I'm certainly not going to..... maybe a smiley that is pulling ones hairs out in frustration.....
A going away party.......

Baily this is very embarrassing for the more traditionally minded among us that we have to resort to a democratic vote on this.. I personally would treat them like infidels.. If they aren't being used then off with their heads.
We could maybe put them on trial.. Take one per day and all say Yay or Nay.
We call to the stand
The evidence against him isn't beyond reasonable doubt... Ok, he might not be used much but he is doing what he says he does...I'd be inclined to give him another chance. I've used him at least 2 or 3 times and he still has possibilities. I give him a
for now.
What do the other members of the jury think?

I think this denotes tyranny and violence.

Actually, in this economy are more lay-offs necessary?

My my Patricia. I thought I was being harsh by nominating a couple but you've shown no mercy at all
I agree though. Lilo must stay. And little fishy

I don't see any of the smileys volunteering for martyrdom.. Have they learnt nothing here?
