'In martyrdom only the desire to live is sacrificed, but in obedience every kind of desire is sacrificed at one and the same time.'

I love this quote. Cheesy

It makes me think of: He who always acts under obedience, may rest assured that he will not have to give an account of his actions to God.'

'Obedience will enable you to advance untiringly, and to gain more readily the road to Heaven; inasmuch as you will be journeying, in a manner, under the guidance of another, and not by your own will and judgment.'

So many Saints agree on the importance of a spiritual director that you have chosen carefully. They all say that once you have chosen well, to relax and do whatever he says in full obedience. Cheesy

Sounds easy but I bet it's very difficult in practice as it means dying to ones own self will and allowing another to dictate the best path.. I'm sure there would be many occasions when pride would have to be knocked on the head especially if one felt the advice was poor or at least not as good as ones own thoughts on the matter.

You're reminding me of one of the desert fathers' stories that resulted in 'the fruit of obedience'. Cheesy
