George Bush wrote in his new memoir Decision Points the story of his mother's miscarriage during his teenage years, when he says he drove Barbara to the hospital while she held her unborn fetus in a jar.

Bush says he included the story "to show how my mom and I developed a relationship," but admits the jarring experience had a lifelong impact on his political beliefs.

"She says to her teenage kid, 'Here's a fetus,'" the pro-life President recounted. "No question it - that affected me - my philosophy that we should respect life...There was a human life, a little brother or sister."

This reminds me of how important it is to baptize in the case of a miscarriage.

I wonder how much graphic pictures really do help? We know from statistics that ultrasounds make a huge difference (and one couldn't be Christian without believing in the efficacy of prayer and the "teaching" of politicians) however it seems to me that the majority of the pictures I've seen would turn people off to the whole question rather than helping to convert them.

It's a difficult question for me.

There're conflicting issues.

I don't know the answer.
