{B} Family: Asteraceae. "Aster means star and refers to the spreading 'petals' of the flowers of ornamental varieties. Bushy refers to the much branched form of the upper stem. Starwort is a combination of star referring to the flower and wort which means weed or medicinal herb." "Other names: Aster Weed, Marsh Aster, Shrub Aster, Wild Aster. Erect, many branched, dark green, flowers are small and produce wind blown seeds with fluffy parachutes."
{C} Flower for the feast of St. Proclus, Bishop and Confessor. St. Proclus was a secretary and spiritual student of St. John Chrysostom, and friend of St. Cyril of Alexandria, a star among the stars. When Nestorius was named Patriarch of Constantinople, he breached his heresy covertly first then later openly. St. Proclus continued to preach true Christianity against him, and in the year of Our Lord 429 preached a sermon to show the Blessed Virgin ought to be spoken of as the Mother of God. Many of his sermons and letters remain with us today.

{C} St. Leocadia, Virgin and Martyr. She was apprehended by an order of Dacian, the cruel governor under Dioclesian, in the year of Our Lord 304. Her constancy was tried by torments, and she died in prison.
