{A} Tickseed Sunflower
{B} Far smaller flowers than regular sunflowers, but resembling them in their yellow sunlike hue.
{C} Flower for the feast today of St. Frideswide, Virgin, who followed the holy maxim, “whatsoever is not God, is nothing.” St. Frideswide followed the true sun of Justice, Jesus Christ throughout her life, as a tiny sunflower follows the sun.

A man who wished to possess St. Frideswide though she had made the vows of a Virgin was struck blind by God until he repented, and then was healed by her prayer. She had a shrine the scene of regular pilgrimages until the unhappy reign of the evil King Henry VIII.
