Originally Christians fasted and prayed during the Advent season to prepare for the "Christ-mass".

Saint Lucy's Day is observed on December 13.
Falling within the Advent season, Saint Lucy's Day is viewed as a precursor of Christmastide,
pointing to the arrival of the Light of Christ.

The underlying themes of the season of Advent are hope, peace, and joy, which are wrapped in the birth of the Christ Child.

The text for O Come, O Come, Emmanuel comes from a seven verse poem that dates back to the 8th century.

A metrical version of five of the verses of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel appeared in the 13th century.

This is a very blessed thread, many thanks.  I have several times gone back into the middle and even the beginning of the thread as a review and also as an act of devotion to reflect on many of these comments.  My Magnificat Advent Companion provides seven Scripture, Prayer, and Meditations it refers to as Advent Stations.  Do you know how and when these were initiated?  Could they be new?

One source indicated that the Magnificat Advent Companion had a wealth of meditative prayers, essays, and poetry.
It mentioned a unique feature: the Advent Stations. There are seven Advent Stations.
