Announcement: Links and Image Posting Disabled

Posting to the board using links or images has now been disabled for all members except for staff.

The template modification does not give a proper error message to indicate that this is what is preventing a post from being posted at this point, please bear with it while we continue construction.

As a general rule even staff will rarely be using links. 

We should as time allows have an upload system in place eventually, where you can upload images that can be reviewed before making them available for use on the boards.

If you want an image or link to be used in a post, and there's a good reason for this, and it passes the links and image policies quoted in the other announcements, submit it to a moderator (at the moment Brigid or myself) for a quick review, and then we will add it in if it passes the review.

The standard of the board is now changed. As general rule links are discouraged, and only to be used in exceptions to this general rule of sufficient reason. Instead, if there is information that you wish to share, quote it to the extent that is necessary and allowable by fair use.

This is because of the advertisements and other media problems that violate moral standards we find as a general rule with outside links.

Links to various sites change as time goes by. Even if it is acceptable when it is posted, later on, links die, or are replaced by other information, and then there are problems and they require a review all over again. This site is meant to be a safe surfing site, completely.

I will as time allows be removing links from previous posts as a general rule in the coming two weeks. I may implement some manual or automatic link expiration system, where when we do use them, they do not last. That is for the future.

Right now your board administrator is quite busy with the present.

I'd like to add, that currently in one's profile, one is still allowed to put in a custom website. There is not administrative ability to disable it by default at the moment. If there was, it would be.

New users, please do not attempt to link to websites, it is not allowed -- you may submit a potential website to the administrator for review, but this is discouraged.

As always, as a general rule, links are not allowed or discouraged.

There are some sites listed in the links on the main websites that are OK for linking to and will be approved as asked for, or you could simply mention their names.
