If they, Why not I? If these men and women could become saints, why cannot I with the help of Him who is all powerful.
St. Augustine

Food for thought there George, food for thought indeed!

Yes I've been pondering this for some time. Any thoughts?

Well, Saint Augustine asked himself this question and we all know how it all ended for him. As Catholics we should all ask ourselves the same question.

O Virgin all holy, lead us in peace, and having brought us without shame to the throne of judgment, grant us a place at the right hand of your Son, that we may be borne off to Heaven and sing with the angels to the uncreated, consubstantial Trinity.

'The trickster who works mischief in secret is a snake "lying in wait on the road and biting the horse's heel" (Gen. 49:17. LXX).'

St. Mark the Ascetic

In other words: " A snake in the grass"! Smiley

That deserves a heel to the head!

And whose heel is better suited for that if not that of Our Holy Mother, the  BVM?

Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin.
 All hope consists in confession.
In confession there is a chance for mercy.
Believe it firmly. Do not doubt, do not hesitate, never despair of the mercy of God.
Hope and have confidence in confession.

And after her, I'd say St. Teresa of Avila too..

That is, if she wasn't 'Discalced'!

Well, with the armour of Christ protecting her, that is no disadvantage at all!

Our labor here is brief, but the reward is eternal. Therefore, do not be disturbed by the clamor of the world, which passes like a shadow. Do not let the false delights of a deceptive world deceive you.

Her life was certainly a testimony to that. The order she founded, the  Poor Clares, depending entirely  on the providence of God for their livelihood.

'He is The Bread sown in the virgin, leavened in the Flesh, molded in His Passion, baked in the furnace of the Sepulchre, placed in the Churches, and set upon the Altars, which daily supplies Heavenly Food to the faithful.'
